Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Organizational Craft Tip

As a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I have joined a group of other Demonstrators in the area. We like to get together, to help each other, and to have some fun sharing and creating together. We call ourselves Seashore Stampers since we mostly live in Victoria with all of us living close to the seashores around lower Vancouver Island.

We are having so much fun sharing with each other that we decided to have more fun sharing with more people. The best way to do that would be to have a monthly blog hop doing just that.  So every last Saturday of the month, look for a blog hop from our Seashore Stampers group!

Today's blog hop theme is to share either our craft room with you, or a great craft room organizational tip! I am doing the latter with regards to cardstock and prepping.

In the photo below, you see my cardstock. All but the upper right unit holds my Stampin' Up! cardstock. Upper left: both In-Colour collections, middle left: neutrals, middle right: regals, bottom left: subtles, & bottom right: brights. To the right of these paper shelving units, I have a bin that I store my scraps in if I don't have the time to cut them up to my most commonly used mat sizes.

Each colour is labeled with the order code number so I don't have to look up the code number for restocking.

I also have a bin on my desk for both pre-cut parts for projects in the works, and as a temporary scrap bin, the larger one, to place pieces while working on a project to sort at a later time. (the three smaller bins are for the current projects I'm working on)

But the main reason for this Blog Hop Post is to share with you what I do with my cardstock to be prepared to make those quick projects, or to pull pieces required for my classes. I use the Full Wide Stamp Cases (127551) to store my pre-cut pieces of cardstock. These are sitting on the desktop just to the right.  They are organized by "card bases" already cut, scored and folded, "card mats" cut down to the most commonly used sizes of 4 x 5 1/2, 3 7/8 x 5 1/8, and 3 3/4 x 5. I also have another box that holds odd sizes. The more commonly used colours, such as, Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Basic, Black, and Early Espresso, has their own box, while the others are organized by colour groups - Subtles, Regals, Neutrals, & Brights. I still need to get a set prepared for Crumb Cake.

I have the mats for the Whisper White and Very Vanilla right in front of me at my desk since I use these the most to stamp on.

The next three photos show each shelf in a closer view. (you'll notice that I still have some boxes to label)

With the exception of the more commonly used colours I mentioned before, I store my three mat sizes in one box using thick clear cardstock (not SU) as a divider between each size, each having a size label on each one.

I love having this system for those times you have to make a card at the last minute, making multiples for card swaps, or as I said earlier, to pull from for my classes. Makes things so much easier and faster! And it makes me feel good to be organized, too.

Now, in case you are wondering when I do this all, well it really is quite simple. When I sit down to Netflix on my iPad, I will do my cutting, scoring, folding or sorting & cutting scraps while enjoying a movie or show. It will amaze you how much you can do during a movie!

Hope you are inspired with this tip. Be sure to check out the inspiration and tips on rest of the Seashore Stampers Blog Hop Posts!

2016 Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek - Totally Trees 5

With Fall approaching my mind seems to think in the colours associated with the season. Plus, Canadian Thanksgiving is coming up in October, too. I did mention in a few of the "Totally Trees" postings that a person could use some of the trees as leaves. So I have finally done that for you with today's card.

For the "world of Thanks" background stamp I used clear embossing powder on the Early Espresso cardstock. I love how colours really pop on Early Espresso.

Nothing is popped up on this card. I used mini-glue dots to attach the leaves so that I could tuck the leave stems under as I attached them.

On the inside, I just stamped some leaves.

This is the last "Totally Trees" sneak peak, even though I haven't used all of the stamps or ideas yet, but I may use this stamp set again in the future. I hope that you are inspired with this set and have it on your 2016 Holiday wish list for September 1st.

Happy stamping!
